Framing the issue as either pro-life or pro-choice misses the main point. The issue is about the right of the woman to decide what happens with her body and when. She should make that decision with the assistance of her medical doctor. Women who may decide to terminate a pregnancy and those who support her decision should not be labeled as not being pro-life.

The environmental review needs to be based on the cumulative effect of toxic emissions in areas rather than just the individual project. Many communities are overly burdened by toxic emissions that dramatically affect their health and quality of life.

Having border security is important and can be achieved in ways other than the construction of a wall along the Mexican border. There is also a border with Canada, but there has not been any talk of building a wall. A reasonable immigration policy needs to be developed that respects the dignity of immigrants who are in the country for different reasons - such as fleeing persecution; or seeking economic opportunities.

History has shown that the use of military force is not an effective or efficient way to prevent governments from possessing a weapon of mass destruction. I support reducing all military interventions. The human, economic and financial costs are too high.

My top priority includes reducing, with the goal of eliminating, the inequities that exist in the areas of housing, employment, economic and business development, healthcare, education and the criminal justice system. There are many federal programs that already exist and are funded through agencies such as HUD, DOJ, Dept. of Education, Dept. of Commerce. There would be a review of the programs to determine how to maximize their impact with the current levels of funding. Additional funding sources could be identified through the development of private and public partnerships.
